Two years on - what will language look like in 2021?

As 2011 fast approaches I came across this video of us filmed about two years ago. Over the next decade or so I think the concept of language and protecting language will be ever more challenged and discussed. With new technology quickly allowing text to be translated through applications like google translate, and the latest Augmented Reality apps such as World Lens pushing the boundaries of visual translation it seems only a matter of time the spoken word will be translated on the fly as well. So what does this mean for 'language' and preserving the ones culture?

New Website

Well it has taken us some time but we have finally got our new website up and running. We have tried to make it much more informative this time around. See what you think at www.hoffi.com

The site is very much in line with our current thinking of concentrating on our core products of branding, brand communications and digital. We hope you all enjoy the new site and find something of interest. We will be uploading new projects on the website very soon.

Cream Awards 2008

It happened a while back now but we were invited to this years Cream Awards. It is the first time we have been to the awards and it was interesting to see the diversity of work that got recognised. We were sat on a table with Fireloop Creative who bagged a bronze award for one of their websites. It was good to have a chat from a company who is from a different neck of the woods.

We are thinking next year we might enter some of the categories so watch this space for further news.

Hoffi's opinion - Creative Choices

It was a while ago now (even before we refurbished our studio), but Creative & Cultural Skills have produced a website called creative choices. As the name would suggest it is all about careers and development in the creative sector. Through their cultural leadership programme they came to our (Hoffi) offices to ask our opinion of design and in particular bilingual design and the unique problems and opportunities it represents.

It is always horrible seeing yourself on the tv but we hope it helps people make a decision on their futures and hopefully will increase interest in the design sector in Wales, both privately and also to a wider public audience.

National Museum Wales - New event brochures

After a very busy few weeks we have finally got a few new pieces out for the National Museum Wales. During this years Eistedfodd the National Museum will be launching six event brochures for the National Museum Cardiff, National Coal Museum, National Wool Museum, National Slate Museum, National Roman Museum and St Fagans: National History Museum. Along with the recently published 'Meet the Family' leaflet these are the first items that have been produced by us (Hoffi), since we were successful in the tender process to win the Museum's Marketing contract for the next two years.

Really Good Logos explained

Our logo was published in 'Really Good Logos explained' published by Rockport. It is fantastic for us to be recognised in this way and we hope we can get some of our clients brand marks in future editions.

Amgueddfa Cymru — National Museum Wales marketing ouput

We (Hoffi) have been working on this for quite a while now, and I am really glad we can finally announce that we have managed to get the contract for all of the National Museum Wales' marketing collateral for 2008 and 2009. Hoffi will be responsible for all output apart from the National Waterfront Museum and the overall What's on guide. We are delighted to have been awarded the work, and hope that over the next few months everyone will be able to see what we have been up to. The pitch was very complex and difficult with us being up against 5 other very strong design agencies. It has been a really good start to the year for Hoffi in general with new work being launched all the time. Currently we have one more piece to produce for Academi's Book of the Year awards and we are also already in the planning stages for the Cardiff Design Festival 2008.

Climate Change Wales Launch

We have been working with West Wales Eco Centre on a educational climate change website for the last year or so. It was officially launched yesterday at Ysgol Dewi Sant, St David's, Pembrokeshire. Assembly Member Jane Davidson was present at the launch and was asked her views on the site and Climate Change in general. For us it was the first time we had met up with everyone who has backed the project, and so it was good to get their feedback. If you get a chance check it out at www.climatechangewales.org.uk
